The Daily Business Review today named Joseph Zumpano and Leon Patricios as 2007 "Most Effective Lawyers" in International Law. The award recognized their legal representation of Janet Weininger against Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, the Army of Cuba and the Republic of Cuba. Janet Weininger is the daughter of CIA pilot Thomas "Pete" Ray, whose plane was shot down during the April 19, 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba. After being shot down, Mr. Ray was captured and later executed. In 2005, Mr. Zumpano and Mr. Patricios obtained a judgment against the aforementioned defendants in the amount of $86.5 million. Ultimately close to $24 million was collected on the judgment.
