Luis F. Calvo is a Senior Associate at Zumpano Patricios & Popok, the New York office of the firm. Mr. Calvo’s practice focuses on commercial and business dispute litigation, trials and arbitration in the areas of employment, commercial law, financial services, securities, real estate and intellectual property, among other core areas. He also has extensive experience representing global financial institutions, broker-dealers and securities professionals in connection with investment disputes and employment actions (including discrimination/harassment, wrongful termination, non-compete clauses, trade secrets, compensation disputes and promissory notes). He also represents financial firms and their employees in regulatory and enforcement matters.


Previously, Mr. Calvo worked at the New York branch of a major European bank where he advised on credit agreements, securities offerings and banking and regulatory issues. Mr. Calvo, a licensed Mexican lawyer as well, began his career working at a global law firm’s Mexico City office litigating government procurement and antitrust matters on behalf of global companies, including in the areas of pharmaceuticals, food and energy.


Mr. Calvo holds a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law, where he served as an Editor of the Journal of Corporate and Financial Law and was a member of Fordham’s Moot Court team. He received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award for his work in Fordham’s Securities Arbitration Clinic and Legal Outreach. Mr. Calvo also received an LLM in International Business & Trade Law from Fordham Law, and a Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico with the thesis Mexico’s Failure to Implement NAFTA Government Procurement Rules.


Mr. Calvo is admitted to practice in both New York (including its federal courts) and Mexico. In addition to English and Spanish, he is fluent in French
